Creative Sparks Moves To Thursdays

Join us for lively and inspiring conversations about art and the creative process at Coffee House 1420, now on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Bring some new work, questions about art, fresh ideas, or just show up and participate in the group discussion. I’ll offer critique, ideas and strategies for getting ideas off the ground and into the gallery, book or other outlets.

These sessions are available to artists of all mediums. Expect a small group of 8-12 who are interested in developing their work, overcoming creative blocks and finding their way as artists. Bring your work on a flash drive (USB) or paintings, drawings, etc. We’ll review them as a group and I’ll offer suggestions for further exploration, inspiration, artists to look at and more.

Have you ever truly listened to the natural world?

Join us for a unique guided meditation experience where nature and sound come together to nurture your inner peace. During this session, you’ll be guided through calming visualizations, accompanied by ambient music created in collaboration with plants. Each note and texture is derived from the natural electrical vibrations of the plants themselves, harmonized through generative algorithms to create an organic, soothing soundscape.

Perfect for both beginners and seasoned meditators, this session offers a unique  experience, where guided meditation and plant-based music merge to bring you to a place of serenity, balance, and reconnection with the natural world.

Symbiotic is a series of live generative music performances and recordings created in collaboration with plants. Through these collaborations I translate the electrical vibrations within plants into audible music creating compositions allowing us to hear the otherwise silent symphony of nature and experience our connection on an immersive level.

The music that emerges from this collaboration is deeply relaxing, well-suited for meditation, yoga, stress reduction, and creative activities. Unlike traditional recorded music, generative music exists only in the present moment, infinitely evolving through adaptive generative algorithms that respond in real-time to data received from live plants. There is no fast forward or rewind, only the present moment. What transpires is a deeper connection between ourselves and the natural world.

The Healing Power of Creativity

A Burst of Inspiration at the Vero Beach Museum…

If you haven’t been to the Vero Beach Museum of Art to see the current exhibition Treasure Coast Creates I highly recommend you do so before it closes on September 3, 2023. Think of it as an opportunity for a burst of inspiration before summer winds down.

The exhibition features artwork from 137 artists residing in Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties. The quality of work and range of expression is fantastic! Juror Ellen E. Roberts, formally of the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, and the VBMA museum staff did an amazing job curating and installing the work into a multi-themed yet cohesive exhibition. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m honored to have new work from my series Standing on the Shore of the Cosmic Ocean featured as part of this exhibition.

Several of my coaching clients and students are also featured in this exhibition. I’m very proud of them and encourage you to check out their work. They include Susan B. Hale, Jim Cohoe, Matt Erpenbeck, Gregory McIntosh and Lynne Hollingsworth. Here’s a link to my previous post featuring some of their work.
