NPR recently interviewed members of the Arts in Medicine program I am helping pilot at Florida Cancer Specialists in Vero Beach. Hear perspectives on the healing power of creativity from a doctor, artist/cancer survivor and patient receiving chemotherapy.
Grateful to be part of such an amazing team bringing creativity to the chemo room! Special thanks to Tania Ortega-Cowen for helping tell the story in such a compelling way!

In 2014 I was diagnosed with oral cancer and underwent surgery and radiation treatment. In order to keep up with friends and family I kept a blog here: http://journal.photonlab.com/
I started my first “blog” in 2001 after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was a great way to express what I was experiencing and connect with family and friends. Sharing my experiences in this way had a profound effect on me as I went through chemotherapy. I found a deeper connection with friends and family and even made a few new friends along the way!
